Class Descriptions
Each session typically integrates multiple styles but usually emphasizes at least one of the following types of yoga:
- Vinyasa/Flow — Engages the whole body and emphasizes linking poses together in a fluid sequence initiated by the breath.
- Power Vinyasa — A more dynamic and vigorous form of vinyasa that provides a cardiovascular and strength based flow.
- Hatha — Incorporates many of the same poses as vinyasa but places less emphasis on coordination between movement and breath.
- Gentle/Restorative — Great for relieving muscular and emotional tension and providing profound relaxation.
YOGA THAT COMES TO YOU
We specialize in on-site services for individuals, workplaces, and groups of almost any size. All on-site services include mats/props as well as a complimentary initial consultation to help us understand your goals and prepare sequences that will enable you to maximize the benefits of your time on the mat.
I would recommend Roar to anyone looking for fun, unpretentious yoga instruction where you can learn a lot and where you can challenge yourself when you feel up to it or relax when you need to.

Events/Large Groups
Roar Yoga provides on-site yoga instruction and/or stress reduction and relaxation techniques for conferences, large meetings, corporate events, company retreats, private parties, and other events. Yoga is also an excellent alternative to traditional team building exercises.
Private
Work one-on-one in the privacy of your home. This option provides ample opportunities for hands-on assists, alignment adjustments, and completely customized sequencing that help maximize the benefits of your yoga practice.
Your teaching style is relaxed and allows me to flow to my own breath. The hands-on adjustments are also a major plus.

Small Groups
Great for friends, couples, housemates, and families, this small group format has many of the same benefits of private yoga sessions but with extra company. You can each practice at your preferred pace, get answers to your yoga-related questions, and benefit from more individualized attention and hands-on assists than is possible in studio-based yoga classes.
I've taken a number of different yoga classes, but I particularly like working with Meghan because of her sequencing. In each session, she establishes a basic sequence of poses that gradually build to more and more challenging poses, which means that class is vigorous but easy to follow. It also means that over the course of many session she is able to fit in a greater variety of activities, as we are already familiar with some of the basic sequences. Meghan also does a wonderful job of focusing attention on areas of the body or breathing techniques in order to feel the poses the more deeply.

Yoga at Work
Office yoga has so many benefits: increased productivity, stress relief, better concentration and efficiency, and less absenteeism due to illness or injury. It can also help improve overall morale and demonstrate that your organization supports balance and wellness, which in turn can lead to increased employee satisfaction and retention. Classes run 60-75 minutes and can take place in any conference room or open space where furniture can be pushed aside. Mornings, lunch hour, and evening sessions are most popular but we can accommodate any time of day.
What employees are saying about our Yoga at Work program:
It is a completely new experience with colleagues to share the yoga time quietly in the morning - I really enjoy it.
You are providing a very accessible, down to earth and supportive class that is well paced and balanced, yet rigorous at the same time. You make us comfortable, communicate clearly and frequently, and maintain a calm atmosphere.
I have found yoga to be immensely helpful to balance my other athletic activities and your class in the office has been just as worthwhile for me as going to a studio.
I’m much more grounded and stress-free. I feel like yoga helps me start my day with a clear head and a sense of physical and mental strength. Also, being able to clear my head during yoga while physically located at work is pretty liberating--I never knew that I could manage to block out the stressful thoughts while at the office. It's wonderful!
Thank you again for doing this for us. It is a valuable part of my week.
I love how you are always introducing new things and encourage us to feel ok with the fact that sometimes the poses don't work or make us laugh, etc. You've been sensitive to the fact that yoga can feel awkward at first, especially for people who otherwise sit around in meetings together! I think you've been really excellent about that and think it makes it easier for everyone to be there. I also really like that you are regularly reminding us to breathe!!
Yoga at work has inspired me to get in shape again; I've started running again and doing some strength training in the mornings that we don't have yoga. I think it has encouraged me to take care of my body more than I had been doing.
Your class is a good pace and challenging enough for a good workout.
I am NOT a morning person, and I actually look forward to an earlier Tuesday morning so that I can come in for yoga.
I think this is so fantastic and am just so appreciative!!

Athletic Performance
(individuals or teams)
Yoga is incredibly beneficial for athletes; it holistically develops core awareness, balance, flexibility, and strength that can protect against (or rehabilitate) injuries, elevate your overall performance, or help break through plateaus. Yoga also increases mental endurance and refines the intense focus needed for competition.
I like coming to yoga because it's relaxing, centering, and good rehab for the strain I put on my body.

Bachelorette/Bridal
Yoga is a fun and unique addition to the traditional bachelorette party repertoire. We also offer a special 6-week series of private instruction directly for the bride-to-be—besides the fact that this series offers serious toning benefits, it can be a major stress-reliever and an empowering alternative to the conventional Bridal Boot Camp.
Moms to Be/Mommy and Me
(Prenatal and Postnatal; individual and group classes available)
These sessions are specifically designed to help you safely practice yoga during or after pregnancy.
Prenatal classes emphasize strength-building, stretching, relaxation, easing tension in the low back and pelvis, and breath techniques that help pregnant women prepare for labor.
Postnatal classes focus on abdominal and pelvic floor tone, overall strengthening, and discomfort in wrists, neck, shoulders, and pelvis.
Building a Home Practice
Roar Yoga can help you gain the knowledge and confidence to develop your independent home practice. This option is especially popular with business travelers who can't make it to regular classes as well as seasoned practioners hoping to either wean themselves off their favorite yoga DVD or develop enough confidence and creativity to practice without instruction.
Balance and Joint Protection (50+)
Yoga is great for people of all ages, and is particularly beneficial in terms of keeping joints healthy and maintaining balance and coordination. Roar Yoga will work with you to gently and safely build a routine that will help maintain or increase your range of motion and help you feel limber and at ease.
I notice that since I started yoga with you my knees don't hurt anymore after walking (my usual form of exercise).
